HCC Vending Machine Information
As you may have noticed, for your convenience, the new vending machines around the College accept both debit and credit cards. As there have been some questions about their use, please review the following information.
SNACK MACHINE OPERATIONS
In both the cash and credit card operations, after you have selected the item to purchase, you must select “OK” to finish the transaction.·
To cancel a selection press “X.”·
To cancel a transaction press “Change Return.”·
In credit/debit card transactions the following steps apply.
1. Swipe your Debit/Credit Carda.
a. After you swipe, the terminal checks to see that there is at least $5.00 available in your account. An amount different than the purchase price and up to $5.00 (varies with each financial institution) will be charged to your card as a “pending” or “authorization” until reconciled.
b. Make your selection(s). You may make multiple selections when using your card.
c. Press “END” on the card reader to end your transaction(s). Please know the swipe card terminals will automatically “time-out” after 15 seconds.
d. Once the transaction is reconciled at your bank, the pre-authorization amount will be released back into your account and the actual price will be reflected. Please know that it may take 3-5 business days (depending on your financial institution) for your account to reflect the actual charge.
