CRIMINOLOGY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE STUDIES

CRIME ANALYSIS

 

This is a specialty career within criminal justice agencies.  Crime Analysts work with crime statistics and crime mapping.  Analysts compile detailed evaluations of crime trends that are used to determine police special operations and personnel distribution.   

Hillsborough Community College now offers courses in Crime Analysis.

The College’s Crime Analysis Courses are designed to prepare graduates for work as a Crime Analyst. They are also designed for students who are pursuing a career in law enforcement and criminal investigation.

Enrollment is open to H.C.C. students and non-students alike and requires only a High School Diploma, subject to HCC enrollment policies. 

 

CRIME ANALYSIS TRAINING CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

 

A student can receive a Hillsborough Community College Certificate of Completion in Crime Analysis Training upon successful completion of 6 credits in Crime Analysis courses.

Students must successfully complete Introduction to Crime Analysis and Intelligence and Advanced Crime and Intelligence Analysis inorder to receive this certificate
of completion.

Please Note: Students must apply to the Criminal Justice Program Manager to obtain their Crime Analysis Certificate.


 

CRIME ANAYLSIS TRAINING COURSES OFFERED

 

CJE-1653 CRIME ANALYSIS AND INTELLIGENCE
3 Credits
This course involves an introduction to the field of crime analysis.  The course will provide the student with an overview of basic criminal intelligence and investigative analysis techniques in modern law enforcement.  The course will include Geographic Information Systems and Crime Mapping Techniques. 

CJE-2664  ADVANCED CRIME AND INTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS

3 Credits
This course is an advanced course in Crime and Intelligence analysis.  The course will build upon the principles learned in Introduction to Crime Analysis and Intelligence and will give the student an in-depth look into Crime Analysis computer applications and GIS mapping software.
