Keith Barry is a Law Enforcement Academy Coordinator at HCC’s Criminal Justice Institute on the Ybor City Campus. Prior to joining HCC in 2006, he served 24 years in the United States Air Force, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. A career law enforcement officer, he served in a variety of different capacities to include patrolman, school resource officer, traffic crash investigator, desk sergeant, breath testing technician, and crime prevention practitioner. He was the United States Central Command’s physical security expert on a tiger team sent to conduct assessments of U.S. Embassy facilities throughout Southwest Asia and the Horn of Africa following the bombing of the Khobar Towers military complex in Saudi Arabia in 1996. His focus on crime prevention through environmental design was instrumental in the enhancement of standards applied to the global protection of military personnel, equipment, and facilities. His final assignment was as a superintendent overseeing the deployment of Air and Space Expeditionary Forces in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Mr. Barry is a graduate of the Air Force’s Senior Noncommissioned Officers Academy, the National Crime Prevention Institute at the University of Louisville, and holds an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice (with a concentration in Critical Incident Management), both from Saint Leo University.
