STEPHEN HARTNETT, M.S.

Stephen Hartnett has been employed by the Tampa Police Department since October 1988. During his career there, he has risen through the ranks to the supervisory position of Captain where he currently is assigned to Patrol District II, which is located in the northeastern part of the City. During his tenure, Captain Hartnett has worked various assignments within the 3 Patrol Districts and what was once referred to as the Tactical Division assigned to plain-clothes assignments investigating narcotics and other street related crimes. He has completed a wide variety of advanced and specialized training programs including traffic reconstruction, child abuse and homeland security.    Throughout his career, Captain Hartnett has been actively involved in training to include positions as a field-training officer, Corporal, Sergeant and Lieutenant, and as an instructor involved in high-liability subjects such as firearms, driving and other officer safety/survival related subjects.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University.
