Q: Is a placement audition required to be a part of the dance program?

A: A placement audition is required for students who wish to take Ballet I- IV and Modern I-IV.  If for some reason you are unable to come to the scheduled audition, call the dance program to schedule another date.  Placements are also given at the beginning of each semester.

Q: Can someone who has never danced before take dance classes at HCC?

A: Absolutely, our Dance Basics class (non-major) is for absolute beginners or dancers who have had no formal training.

Q: Are there any scholarships available?

A: Yes, each year we award several dance scholarships to students based on financial need, talent, service, and academics. Students can find the scholarship information on the Dance Program Information link.

Q: Do you have to be a certain age or weight to take dance?

A: No way... We have students between ages 17- 70 and of all size, shapes and colors.

Q: Can I try a class out to see if it is what I am looking for?

A: Yes, each semester we have a couple of days that outsiders can take classes to try them out. Call the dance program at (813) 253-7623 for further information.

Q: Will there be any performance opportunities during the semester?

A: Yes, each semester there are several performance opportunities. They range from Student Choreography to International Festivals.
