Fire Academy Financial Information

The following types of assistance are available for qualified students who wish to attend the HCC Fire Academy:

 Star and Shield Scholarship - Fire Academy scholarships are offered to HCC Fire Academy students by the Star and Shield Insurance Company. These are funded by a donation made in memory of Daryl Dzugen, a Captain with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue and former Fire Science Coordinator at HCC. The scholarships are awarded to the recipients at the mid-point of the academy session. For information and application documents please click on the link below:

Veterans benefits - Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who qualify are eligible for compensation under the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill. Florida Pre-Paid Scholarship Program - The Florida Pre-Paid Scholarship Program will provide benefits for members to cover tuition and learning media costs.

Bright Futures Scholarships - Recipients of Bright Futures scholarships are eligible for benefits when taking academy classes that begin in the fall or spring semester.

Tampa Bay Work Force Alliance - Workforce training grants are availble for qualifying students through the Tampa Bay Work Force alliance, 9215 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, 33612. In addition, a number of county and state agencies offer career training programs that provide financial assistance.
