Important Notice Concerning Statutory Changes

Effective October 1, 2009, individuals applying for certification as a Firefighter in the State of Florida must show documentation evidencing one of the following:

• Successful completion of an approved First Responder Course
• Certification in the State of Florida as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
• Certification in the State of Florida a Paramedic (EMT-P)

 Applicants who apply before January, 2010 and are currently attending one of the required classes may note on their application that they are enrolled in the program and expect certification before they start in the Fire academy.

 Students applying for the HCC Fire Academy after January 2010 will be required to submit proper documentation showing proof of the above with his/her application.
