Mission Statement

The Fire Science Department of Hillsborough Community College is a state certified comprehensive training and education system for local area fire services.  The Fire Science Department plans, researches, develops and delivers quality programs to enhance the ability of the fire service providers to protect life, property, and the environment.

SPECIAL NOTE TO STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT WORKING FIREFIGHTERS OR HAVE NO FIRE SERVICE EXPERIENCE

Students that are not working firefighters or have no fire service experience are welcome to take our courses however may experience difficulties in the comprehension of some of the curriculum with their lack of working firefighting experience.  We suggest that if you are not a working firefighter that you contact our office by phone or email and commuicate with us on a particular course you may be interested in taking prior to registration.  We can then better explain what the class will contain and provide you with additional information so that you do not register for the course and find out too late (to drop the course) that a course was not properly suited for you.
