ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS - The Department of Education has changed their guidelines for college acceptance. Although a student does not need to be "degree seeking", after they have taken 5 courses at any one college they are cappes and have to follow the same procedures as a degree seeking student. Here is what students need to do...
1. Register - this must be updated online if they have not been here for more than 12 months or longer.
This can be done at /ssem/steps-for-enrollment.aspx
ALL TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE IN AT THE TIME OF THE REGISTRATION TO INCLUDE GED/HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE
2. Show proof of residency (2 needed). This also applies to any that has not been here for 12 months or longer.
See more information at www.hccfl.edu/media/2728/hcc%20residency%20classification.pdf
3. Take the CPT Test
Website for study guides for the test - www.hccfl.edu/ssem/testing.aspx
This will need to be accomplished prior to a student registering for any subsequent classes. For more information on taking the test (when, where, etc.), call our office at 813-253-7779 or send Jim Gary (Fire Science Coordinator) an email at email@example.com.
We have added an Email Subscription Service to our web page in the left column. Please feel free to subscribe with your name, email and contact information so that you can receive notices of new course schedules and courses added within a term. (There is also a method to unsubscribe should you desire to discontinue receiving the emails). This manner of communication will allow us to send course schedules and information directly to the students without totally relying on the fire departments to distribute and post our information. We feel this will be a tremendous asset for both students and our staff. We are also experiencing issues with people who use Hotmail as an email provider as Hotmail's filters are seeing these emails as spam and not letting them through. As far as we know everyone else's are getting through. If you use Hotmail, please adjust your filters accordingly to allow these through.
