Additional Certifications and Information

For each of the following certifications below, availability of required courses at HCC are indicated.

Fire Safety Inspector II   (Must already be Inspector I certified)

          (Florida State Fire College) FFP 2111 Fire Chemistry - 40 hours

          (Florida State Fire College) FFP 2541 Private Fire Protection Systems II - 40 hours

          (HCC) FFP 2604 Cause and Origin - 40 hours

          And one of the following 2 courses -

                    (Florida State Fire College) FFP 1793 Fire and Life Safety Educator (Intro to Pub Ed) I - 40 hours

                    (Florida State Fire College) FFP 2706 Public Information Officer - 40 hours

                        (Note - HCC is looking to start offering a Public Information Officer class in 2009)

Special Fire Safety Inspector 

          (HCC) FFP 1506 Fire Prevention and Investigation - 40 hours

          (HCC) FFP 2510 Codes and Standards - 40 hours

          (Florida State Fire College) FSFC 310   Special Fire Safety Inspector III, or Equivalent as approved by governing

                agency, must be completed for the first CEU requirement following original certification in the first three (3) year

                period.  

Fire Service Instructor II

          A minimum of 6 years of experience with an organized fire department.

          (HCC) FFP 2740 Fire Service Course Delivery - 40 hours

          (HCC) FFP 2741 Fire Service Course Design - 40 hours

          Proof of completing an Associate's Degree (2 year)

Fire Service Instructor III

          A minimum of 6 years of experience with an organized fire department.

          (HCC) FFP 2740 Fire Service Course Delivery - 40 hours

          (HCC) FFP 2741 Fire Service Course Design - 40 hours

          Proof of completing a Bachelor's Degree or higher (4 year minimum)     

 Fire Officer II    (Must already be a Fire Officer I)

          (Florida State Fire College) FFP 2111 Fire Chemistry - 40 hours

          (HCC) FFP 2604 Cause and Origin - 40 hours

          (Florida State Fire College) FFP 2780 Fire Department Administration - 40 hours

          (Florida State Fire College) FFP 2770 Legal and Ethical Issues for the Fire Service

          (HCC) FFP 2741 Fire Service Course Design

          One of the two following courses:

                    (Florida State Fire College) FFP 1793 Fire and Life Safety Educator I    or

                    (Florida State Fire College) FFP 2706 Public Information Officer

                    (Note - HCC may start to offering the Public Information Officer class in 2009)

          Plus the following 40 hour courses or equivalents

                    Business/Technical Writing

                    Computer Literacy or Micro Computer Concepts

                    (Students may want to communicate with our office for availability at HCC and acceptance by Florida State Fire

                     College)

Fire Investigator II  (Must already be Fire Investigator I certified)

Fire and Life Safety Educator Certification

          (Florida State Fire College) FFP 1793 Fire and Life Safety Educator I - 40 hours

          (Florida State Fire College) FFP 2794 Fire and Life Safety Educator II - 24 hours.
