Respiratory System Physiology
The respiratory system accomplishes the exchange of respiratory gases, which are oxygen and carbon dioxide, between the body and the atmosphere. Organs of respiration include the nose, mouth, trachea, bronchi, and lungs.
Clinical measures have been established to provide a basis for determination of a patient's respiratory status. This lab provides practice with one such clinical system, provided by a device called the respirometer (spirometer). This section includes micrographs, a labeled photograph and a video that provide a review of the equipment and procedures.
