The liver and gall_bladder are below the diaphragm and conceal part of the stomach. If you reflect the liver you can find the pancreas lying in the mesentery that supports the intestines.
The pancreas is a mixed gland, which means it is partially endocrine and partially exocrine. The exocrine portion of the pancreas consists of acinar cells. These acinar cells are cuboidal cells that produce digestive fluids. The endocrine portion of the gland is a series of "islets" (islets_of_Langerhans or pancreatic islets) that contain special cells, which produce insulin and glucagon for regulation of blood sugar homeostasis. Alpha_cells produce glucagon, and beta_cells produce insulin.
