The uterus of the female cat extends upward in the lower abdomen as a forked structure. The "fork" is referred to as the uterine_horns. This type of organization provides the space for a litter of kittens.

At the superior surface of each uterine horn is an ovary. Surrounding each ovary is a uterine_tube (oviduct), and above each ovary there is a suspensory ligament that attaches the ovary to the abdomenal wall.
