Who is a person with a disability?
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA, 1990) defines a person with a disability as any person who:
a. Has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits a major life activity,
b. Has a record or history of such an impairment , or
c. Is regarded as having such an impairment
What laws protect the rights of college students with disabilities?
Both Title II of the ADA and Section 504 require colleges who receive state and/or federal funding to make their programs accessible to qualified students with disabilities and prohibits them from discriminating on the basis of a disability.
