Music Auditions

Come realize your dreams with us at Hillsborough Community College!

Do you need to audition?
In order to streamline the audition process, we have included a very short questionnaire that will help you determine if you need to audition for the music department. If the guide prompts you to audition, please read through the rest of this page.

Theory Placement Test
A theory placement test will be given, after the audition, that will evaluate a basic understanding of the fundamentals of music. Individual sight singing evaluations will be done during the audition time. Please allow a half an hour, after your audition, to complete the theory placement test.

Submitting Forms
The Audition Form should be received one week prior to the audition to insure your chosen time slot. Late forms will be assigned the first available open time slot. We will do everything possible to give you the time slot that you request.

All auditions will take place in the Ybor Performing Arts Building, Room 132 (YPAB 132). All auditions are audio recorded (no video) to share with your future instructor(s). An accompanist will be provided for those auditioning who need one. (Please bring music for vocal literature and piano parts to your instrumental pieces) Please contact Justin Medlen for more information about auditions.
