Deadlines for Opticianry Students

As a Student of the HCC Opticianry Program, key dates are to be adhered to for submission of documents, applications to certification exams, graduation evaluations and other important objectives. It is the Student’s responsibility to meet these deadlines.

1. Transcripts
"Official/Sealed" high school AND college transcripts should be submitted upon application to the program. Transcripts must be submitted NO LATER THAN the end of the first semester of the program. Failure to submit transcripts will restrict your continuing in the program.

2. ABO EXAM
Although Students can apply to take the ABO Exam when they choose; the HCC Opticianry Program recommends that all Students apply to take the no later than the fall semester of their 2nd year in the program.  The Fall deadline to apply is September.  Go To: http://abo-ncle.org/

3. NCLE EXAM
Although Students can apply to take the NCLE Exam when they choose; the HCC Opticianry Program recommends that all Students apply to take the no later than the spring semester of their 2nd year in the program. The Spring deadline to apply is March. Go To: http://abo-ncle.org/

4. GRADUATION
Students must apply to graduate from the program. Failure to apply for graduation will cause your record to not be processed. Students can not apply for the State Board Exam if they are not “officially” graduated. ALL Opticianry Students are encouraged to participate in the Graduation Commencement Ceremony held each May. We schedule Final Exams to coincide with the ceremony so that all students have the opportunity to attend.

Students can apply to graduate from the HCC Opticianry Program online through Hawknet/WebAdvisor/ under Academic Profile/ Application for graduation. The application deadline for Opticianry Students is the November before graduation. Go To: https://hccadvisor.hccfl.edu/WebAdvisor/WebAdvisor

5. OPTICIANRY BOARD EXAM
Students are eligible to sit for the State Board of Opticianry Exam once they have completed and passed the ABO and NCLE Exams and are officially graduated from the HCC Opticianry Program. Submit a completed application form and fee.
