This document is meant to advise students of the didactic and clinical activities that will be scheduled and required of each student during each semester. This draft is subject to change each semester and at the discretion of the Program Manager and Program Faculty:
Year One Fall:
Once accepted into the Radiation Therapy Program students in this semester will have the opportunity to complete any outstanding general education courses. There will be two program courses this semester comprised of four credits. Students must complete Anatomy and Physiology II and English II and any other necessary general education courses. Classes are held on Wednesday and Saturday
Year One Spring:
During this semester Radiation Therapy students will see an increase in program courses and work associated with each course. Students will also begin the first clinical rotation this semester. Classes will be held on Wednesday, Thursdays and Saturday each week and clinical one day per week (8 ½ hours) on Monday.
Year One Summer:
During this semester Radiation Therapy students will be scheduled for clinical rotations two days per week (8 ½ hours per day) on Monday and Tuesday. Didactic classes will be held one other day per week. Students will have time during this semester to take additional courses, work, and prepare for the second year of the program. Classes are held Wednesday.
The second year of the program is a full time commitment to the education of a radiation therapist.
Year Two Fall:
During the Fall semester of the second year students will be assigned to clinical rotation three days per week, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (8 ½ hours per day). Didactic classes will be held on Tuesdays and Saturdays with evening labs on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Year Two Spring:
During this semester, the student will be again scheduled in clinical education three days per week, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays (8 ½ hours per day). Didactic classes will be held on Tuesdays and Saturdays with evening labs on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Year Two Summer:
During this last semester of the program, students will be scheduled in clinical education three days per week, Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays (8 ½ hours per day). Didactic courses will be held on one day on Tuesday with one evening lab on Tuesday or Wednesday night.
*Clinical education will be held at off-campus locations in a JRCERT approved clinical education center. The program has affiliation agreements with 25 Hospitals and cancer centers. Students are solely responsible for transportation to the clinical site.
*Students should plan to budget time each semester to study and complete homework assignments.
