The CIE and HCC Foundation have established the International Student Scholarship to help academically dedicated F-1 international students achieve their goals. Three scholarships (one, $1000 scholarship and two, $500 scholarships) will be awarded in the spring 2019 semester.
Eligibility Requirements: Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least 12 credits at HCC. Preference will be given to students that show on-campus involvement and financial need. This scholarship is not available to students that are already receiving a scholarship (through their embassy/government or HCC Foundation scholarship).
To Apply: Complete the online HCC Foundation application, submit an essay explaining why you should receive the scholarship (be sure to highlight any on-campus activities and/or financial need), and obtain one letter of recommendation from a member of the HCC faculty.
Deadline to Apply: Spring 2019 Scholarship Deadline (TBA)
International students from Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, China, Costa Rica, Eastern Europe, France, Israel, Japan, Mexico and West Africa attending public universities and community colleges in Florida on an F-1 visa may be eligible to apply for out-of-state tuition waivers through the Florida Linkage Institutes.
What are Linkage Institutes? The Linkage Institutes were created by the Florida Legislature (Florida Statute 288.9175) to assist in the development of stronger commercial, cultural and educational ties between Florida and strategic foreign countries. Each linkage institute is co-administered by a university or community college partnership.
Who is eligible? In order to qualify, the international student must be from one of the countries with whom Florida Linkage Institutes are established. Each institute has its own application process, deadline and criteria for selecting students for these awards. You may apply each semester for a tuition waiver until you graduate.
How Do I Apply? To apply for the out-of-state tuition exemption, a student must contact the Linkage Institute for his/her country of origin. Because there are considerably more applicants than awards, tuition waiver awards are highly competitive!
