Prospective students planning to attend HCC on an F-1 visa must submit the International Student Application AND all required documentation (proof of English proficiency, credential evaluation, financial documents, fee) by the following deadlines:
Initial Students: F-1 visa students who are currently residing outside of the United States and will be entering the U.S. directly from their home country with a new, initial Form I-20 from Hillsborough Community College. Students entering the U.S. from their home country should begin the application process EARLY! We encourage you to complete the application process at least three months prior to the term you would like to start to allow for visa processing.
Transfer Students: F-1 visa students who are transferring to Hillsborough Community College from another school in the United States (high school, English Language School or college/university).
I-20 Report Date and New Student Orientation: The Report Date is the last date a new student can report to the Center for International Education in preparation for the start term. Initial F-1 visa students may report to the College up to 30 days prior to this date (printed on their HCC I-20). We recommend that all new students report to the CIE up to 2 to 3 weeks prior to the report date to take the required academic assessment tests, attend new student orientation and register for classes. Orientation is required for all new international students (initial and transfer students).
Documents to bring for Check-In:
- HCC I-20
- Passport with F-1 visa and admissions/entry stamp or I-94 record
- Proof of health insurance (see our health insurance pages for requirements)
