Bassmi Ibrahim: The Isness of Being

Artist lecture to begin at 6:00pm

A celebrated abstract painter, Bassmi Ibrahim’s exhibition at Gallery 221@HCC examines a wide range of work from his ongoing series entitled Isness. His luminous paintings are meant to serve as windows to an inner plateau of the self where viewers can find their own undiscovered dimensions and experience a meditative state of being. Ibrahim (b. 1941, Cairo, Egypt) currently works out of Clearwater, FL.


CSAI 18th Annual Hillsborough County High School Fine Arts Competition

Now in its 18th year, the Calyx Schenecker Art Infinitum displays winners of the Annual Hillsborough County High School Fine Arts Competition. The juried competition gives students an opportunity to be recognized for their achievements in the visual arts, with scholarships awarded to students in the categories of 2D art, 3D art, and photography. Exhibition, awards ceremony, and reception will take place in Gallery 3@HCC Dale Mabry. 


Scott Owen Pierce: Vision and Memory

Panel discussion with artist Pat Blocher to begin at 6:00pm

Scott Owen Pierce is an exciting emerging artist from the Central Gulf Coast of Florida whose work investigates the unique mechanical and conceptual qualities of photography. His exhibition with Gallery 221@HCC explores the nature and flaws of vision, the mechanics of human perception, and memory. Pierce received his MFA from the University of South Florida in 2017.

Panel discussion with artist Scott Owen Pierce to begin at 6:00pm

Pat Blocher is a photo-based artist from Oceanside, CA that works across digital and analog processes. Their exhibition in Gallery 3@HCC engages with the gallery space through a mix of photographs and installation. In this exhibition, Blocher will examine the relationship between spatial shifts and conceptual paradigms, such as shifting perspectives of gender. Blocher is a current MFA candidate at the University of South Florida.
