Dr. Switzer is a Professor of Music on the Music and Humanities faculty of Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. He is a classical guitarist who has toured internationally as a soloist, performing in Austria, Canada, Italy, the former Soviet Union, and throughout the United States.

He has published several editions of guitar music with Tuscany Publications (available through the Theodore Presser Publishing Company). His classical guitar instructional DVD, Classical Guitar Sprezzatura: a Pathway to Virtuosity, is a best seller on Amazon.com. He has appeared as a duo partner with Maestro Pepe Romero in Europe as well as in the United States, and has toured with the renowned Los Romeros Guitar Quartet and the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has performed locally as a soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of Florida, the University of South Florida Orchestra, and the Florida Southern College Orchestra. He recently (October 2012) was a featured soloist in a series of concerts with the Imperial Symphony of Polk County, culminating in a performance of Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez.

He has collaborated on a compact disc recording with oboist Amy Collins, featuring music for oboe and guitar, and also on a compact disc recording featuring music for solo guitar, guitar and voice, and voice and piano. Mark Switzer holds a Bachelor of Music degree from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (1975), a Master of Music (1976) in classical guitar from the University of Miami, and a Doctorate in Musical Arts (1981) in classical guitar also from the University of Miami. This degree was the third DMA in classical guitar to be awarded in the United States.

Internationally acclaimed guitarist Vladimir Gorbach has captivated audiences across Europe, Australia, the United States and his native country of Russia.

His international success began when he was accepted into the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now" outreach program. He then went on to win ten international guitar competitions and prizes in Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Greece and most recently, in the United States at the 2011 Guitar Foundation of America, leading him to a fifty concert tour throughout America, including at Carnegie Hall, NY; Canada, Mexico, South America, and China, in addition to a publication with Mel Bay and recording for Naxos label that is distributed worldwide.

He has performed as a soloist and in chamber ensemble with the Orchestra de Las Beiras, the Orchestra de Aveiro, the Russian Academic Chamber Orchestra Musica Viva, the Symphony Orchestra of New Russia, and Junge Philharmonie Köln , as well as appearances at the Moscow Philharmonic Concert Series, Koblenz International Guitar Festival (Germany), Guitar Art Festival Belgrade (Serbia), Vienna Guitar Forum (Austria), Nantes Summer Guitar Academy (France), Vondelpark Festival (The Netherlands), and Sydney Crows Nest Concert Cycle (Australia), in addition to giving master-classes at numerous festivals.

He began his guitar lessons at an early age in the class of Professor Yuri Kuzin at the State Music School in Novosibirsk and later with Arkady Burkhanov at the Glinka Conservatory. He continued his studies at the Music Academy in Cologne, Germany with Roberto Aussel.​Mr. Gorbach plays a 2005 Daniele Chiesa instrument.
