because they have a
strong community college
nearby. Years ago, in a
speech supporting fund-
raising for the campus, I
was proud to say that Plant
City is a ‘college town.’ The

As a true hometown college, HCC-Plant
City strives to make a positive impact on
our community. Businesses from Tampa
to Orlando rely on the college as a source
of workforce talent and appreciate that
our diverse programs offer personal and
professional growth opportunities for the
local population. Residents count on
HCC-Plant City workforce programs to
help them develop in-demand skills for
today’s job market.
More than 75 percent of HCC graduates
choose to remain in our community after
graduation. Many go on to become
leaders in our region. Their higher
earnings add to the economy, and
through the trickle-down effect,
improve quality of life for all residents.
John R. Trinkle Center
HCC’s newest facility, the 25,000-square-
foot John R. Trinkle Center, has become
a civic gathering spot for the Plant
City community. The state-of-the-art,
multipurpose center is the area’s
premier venue for a wide range
