Sexual misconduct jeopardizes the mental, physical and emotional welfare of our students, as well as the safety of our community. Sexual misconduct diminishes students’ individual dignity and impedes their access to educational, social and employment opportunities. It can permanently impact students’ lives that may cause lasting physical and psychological harm. Sexual misconduct violates our institutional values and its presence in the community presents a barrier to fulfilling HCC’s mission. Sexual misconduct, therefore, will not be tolerated at the College and is expressly prohibited.
This policy provides information regarding HCC’s prevention and education efforts related to sexual misconduct by students, as well as how HCC will proceed once it is made aware of student sexual misconduct.

The Title IX Coordinator's responsibilities include overseeing an institution's Title IX compliance efforts and:
Be available to meet with students who believe sexual harassment or assault occurred.
Ensure that complaints are handled through consistent practices and standards.
Investigate complaints or oversee the investigation.
Provide assistance to the institution's law enforcement employees on appropriate responses to reports of sexual violence.
