NARRATIVE/JUSTIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE
Hillsborough Community College integrates a review of its distance education programs within the Compliance Certificate in accord with the policy statements Reaffirmation of Accreditation and Subsequent Reports, Distance Education and Correspondence Education, Substantive Change for Accredited Institutions of the Commission on Colleges, as well as Guidelines for Addressing Distance and Correspondence Education (guide for evaluators).
HCC participated in a state-wide Substantive Change initiative for the expansion of distance learning during 2000, resulting in SACSCOC approval granted in 2001. Distance education credit courses are offered in an array of general education and technical courses as well as some degrees. HCC complies with Federal Requirement 4.8 devoted exclusively to Distance and Correspondence Education. Distance education is addressed in the relevant requirements and standards throughout the Compliance Certificate in their respective narratives.
