SPEAK UP HCC - (Threat Assessment Team) - Dr. Jennifer Dale

The is a super exciting time for the  Speak Up HCC Team (aka Threat Assessment Team) as it gears up for its college-wide launch this fall.  This event will be a way to continue to raise awareness throughout the college on how to recognize individuals who display distressing behaviors such as: substance abuse, hostile, aggressive, extremely destructive and/or bizarre acting, are harm to self/others, suicidal etc. Materials will also be available for pick-up that will outline the reporting process and the Teams contact information.
Stay tuned there’s more to come…Info from Jennifer

Turbo Vote  - Dr. Lerodrick Terry

HCC is excited to partner with TurboVote, a non-partisan, non-profit organization that helps students vote.  Once a student signs up (and it's FREE) TurboVote helps students get registered to vote, update their  voter registration, or request an absentee ballot and keeps track of local and national elections. TurboVote will get students all the forms and information they need. It takes just a few minutes to register here: www.hcc.turbovote.org  More information can be found here or contact Dean Terry with any questions.  Thanks for helping us get the word out about this important project!

College Bound News - Warren Smith

The HCC Ybor Campus Office of Student Services in partnership with the 2014 College Bound Initiative hosted 3 focused/targeted New Student Orientations (NSO) that yielded 146 students from area high schools.  Students were able to apply and register for classes as well as complete or update their FASFA.  Students and parents were very pleased with the service as students were able to walk away with their class schedule in hand.  We are confident that our numbers will increase as the word gets out.  The Ybor Campus Dean of Student Services will be making presentations to area principals and guidance personnel highlighting the service and its convenience to students.  Stay tuned for more updates!
