You may have already earned college credit through non-traditional methods.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) is the process that Hillsborough Community College uses to evaluate academic credit for college-level knowledge and skills that you may have gained outside of the traditional classroom. 

Hillsborough Community College offers different PLA methodologies and acceleration mechanisms to assist you.  This may include what you have earned through  

 - Military Service
 - Employer Training Programs
 - Accelerated Academic Programs like CLEP, Advanced   Placement,  or Dual Enrollment.

College level credit may be earned through several standardized tests including CLEP, DANTESCredit by Exam and the Certified Professional Secretary Examination.

High school students may earn college credits through Dual Enrollment, Early Admissions, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate.
