As teaching lab schools, children benefit from the school readiness program prepared and implemented by our highly trained early childhood staff and also benefit from those students enrolled in the early childhood classes here at HCC. We provide a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children.
Our mission is to provide students, staff and faculty with campus-based, affordable and accessible quality child care for children ages one to five years old. The center’s philosophy is based on a developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) model. The Dale Mabry and Ybor City Centers are accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). They are also Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)-approved centers and partners with:
- Early Literacy Matters (ELM)
- Hillsborough County School Readiness programs
- University of South Florida Positive Social Skills Teaching project
- Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County Quality Counts for Kids project
Each center has earned the Department of Children and Families Gold Seal award as well as a five-star designation.
