Kim Copeland began her 31 year criminal justice career at the age of 18 and was dual certified in both law enforcement and corrections through the Southwest Florida Criminal Justice Academy.  Ms. Copeland served over 6 years with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and 25 years with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.  She has been assigned as a correctional officer, law enforcement deputy, law enforcement supervisor, crime scene detective and civil process deputy sheriff.  She has trained others in each position she held and taught in-service training courses.  Her academic degrees include:  Associate of Science in Criminal Justice from Edison Community College, Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University, and Master of Science in Criminal Justice (specialization in critical incident management) from Saint Leo University.  She credits exposure to enthusiastic and knowledgeable professors during her associate’s degree that spearheaded her success in criminal justice, and her current passion for instructing.
