Mr. Mirk is a retired attorney.  He grew up in New Jersey, and received his B.S. in Secondary Education from Kutztown State College in Pennsylvania in 1971.  His major was earth and space science.  After teaching one year of high school science, he entered into active military duty.  Upon discharge he settled in Atlanta, GA, earning a Master of Arts for teachers in geography from Georgia State University in 1975.  Mr. Mirk then was hired by the Veterans Administration, where he worked until 1979 when he entered law school at Emory University, receiving his J.D. in 1982.  Mr. Mirk practiced law for 29 years, retiring in 2011.  Since 2006, Mr. Mirk has been an adjunct instructor at Florida Metropolitan University and Everest University teaching legal studies and criminal justice.
