FUSE FAQs

What is FUSE?
FUSE is a program that guarantees admission to University of South Florida (USF) selected academic majors for Hillsborough Community College (HCC) students who meet the admission requirements and earn an associate in arts (AA) degree or associate in science (AS) degree.

How may I qualify for the FUSE program?

  • You must complete an HCC application and select FUSE on the application. Current HCC students must meet with an HCC advisor.

  • You must enroll at HCC as an AA or AS degree-seeking student who plans to transfer to USF in one of the selected academic majors.

  • You must send official high school transcripts to HCC.

  • You must send official SAT, ACT or PERT scores to HCC and meet the minimum requirements.

What are the benefits of the FUSE program?
Beyond guaranteed transfer to USF for students meeting the requirements, benefits include personalized advising from HCC and USF advisors, priority course registration, opportunities to participate in campus and athletic events at both HCC and USF, and assistance with transferring to USF. Please contact USF for more information about the usage of USF’s facilities and hours.

What is the difference between the FUSE Program and Florida 2+2 Program?
FUSE guarantees admission to USF in selected academic majors, whereas the 2+2 program only guarantees admission to one of Florida’s state universities.

Can a FUSE student transfer to USF before completing an AA degree from HCC?
USF can admit students with less than the 60 credits, but students will not have guaranteed admissions into the FUSE academic programs. Therefore, students are highly encouraged to complete the FUSE program to ensure guaranteed admissions into USF FUSE specified academic programs.

Can I complete an AS degree instead of an AA degree?
Yes. The HCC AS Biotechnology Laboratory Technology degree has a GradPath to the USF BS Biology (Medical Concentration) degree.
