LOCATION Gallery114@HCC Ybor
EXHIBITION SCHEDULE October 16, 4-7:30 p.m.; Poetry Reading and Weather Warlock Livestream start at 6:30 p.m.
EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION

Stop by Gallery114@HCC Ybor during the Fall 2025 Ybor Arts Tour for a special event combining art, poetry and sound in conjunction with In Case of Flood.

In Case of Flood opened at Gallery114@HCC Ybor during HCC Art Galleries’ 3rd Annual Silent Hawktion & Back to School Bash on August 21. The hurricane-themed exhibition features work by more than 20 Florida artists and activists. Together, they explore climate change, loss, hope, uncertainty, and what it means to live in a state shaped by storms.

On October 16, the exhibition gains a one-night-only soundtrack courtesy of experimental New Orleans artist Martin Quintron. Around 2014, Quintron developed a synthesizer—the Weather Warlock—that transforms data from weather sensors into layered sound. Quintron used the device to record Hurricane Ida as it hit New Orleans in 2021.

Adding a literary voice, Camilo Loaiza Bonilla—HCC’s first Poet-in-Residence—will share new work inspired by the exhibition. Bonilla (he/him/él) is a Latine writer working to unwind generational silence as a queer, trans, first-generation immigrant. A USF MFA graduate, his first solo museum exhibition, Raíces/Roots: Camilo Loaiza Bonilla, opened at the University of Tampa’s Scarfone/Hartley Gallery on August 29 and runs through October 10.

This special program is part of the biannual, self-guided Ybor Arts Tour, which highlights visual art, live performance, and literary expression throughout historic Ybor City. See a full list of participating venues and programs here: Ybor Arts Tour Fall 2025.
