What is the QEP?
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a key component of Hillsborough College’s reaffirmation of accreditation through the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). It represents our commitment to improving student learning and success through targeted, measurable initiatives.
Our current QEP planning process, Readiness by Design, focuses on enhancing college readiness for all students, especially First-Time-in-College (FTIC) students, by fostering academic resilience, improving resource awareness and strengthening support systems from the moment students enter our institution.
Why College Readiness?
Many FTIC students enter Hillsborough College without a clear academic plan or the skills needed to navigate the post-secondary environment. According to the Office of Institutional Research, FTIC attrition rates are approximately 23% after the first term and 41% after the first year. These low retention and completion rates highlight the need for targeted support.
