HCC Permanent Art Collection

Regional Focus | Global Access

The college began building its permanent art collection in the late 1990s and early 2000s with foundational gifts from Tampa photographer and educator Suzanne Camp Crosby and the purchase of two iconic Clyde Butcher photographs, Ghost Orchid and Moonrise.

Rooted in the Tampa Bay arts community, the collection now includes nearly 300 artworks—many created by HCC faculty, students, alumni and artists who have exhibited in the college’s galleries.

Ahead of HCC’s 50th anniversary, gallery curators invited past exhibiting artists to contribute, resulting in more than a dozen new donations to the collection.

Though the artists represented are primarily regional, HCC’s Permanent Art Collection is globally accessible. Through CatalogIt Hub, students and art lovers everywhere can explore this uniquely Tampa Bay–based collection online.
