About the gallery
The history of the art galleries at the HCC Dale Mabry Campus began in 1980 when the Library building (now the Learning Resources Center) opened in a new state-of-the-art facility. An exhibition space called The Display Room was created on the main floor of the Library and showcased a wide range of displays from historical artifacts to modern art. Over the years this space has had a notable group of directors who have overseen the doubling of the gallery’s size (now Gallery221), expanded exhibition areas to include an auxiliary gallery on the building’s third floor (Gallery3), and changed the focus to primarily visual arts. Today, the gallery maintains a strong focus on contemporary art and fosters cultural, educational and interdisciplinary connections for visitors in either of its exhibition spaces.
