Military Leave AA/AS/CCC- Hillsborough Community College offers open access programs to all service members which do not require re-admission. If an absence is greater than one calendar year the student may be required to fill out a new application.
Military Leave while actively enrolled- Students called to active military duty will be permitted to drop their course(s) or make arrangements with faculty to complete academic requirements and receive final grades. To qualify, students must provide a copy of their active-duty orders. Contact the campus advising or counseling office.
Military Leave Limited Access Programs – If a student has required military duty that requires absence from classes, the student must request military duty leave from the Department Chair/Coordinator/Director. The Department Chair/Coordinator/Director will require documentation supporting the military duty. If the Department Chair /Coordinator/Director verifies the leave request, the student’s request will be forwarded to the Dean of Health Sciences for final review. The Dean will advise the student in writing of the decision regarding the leave. If the student is awarded military duty leave from the program; the student will be reinstated in the program no later than one year from the semester that the military leave was awarded.
1. There may be additional requirements before the student can return to the
program, such as an educational plan. These will be communicated to the student
at the time of approval of the leave.
2. This process only covers returning to Health Sciences; students are responsible for
withdrawing from courses and applying for late drops or withdrawals.
3. There may be additional procedures mandated by a program’s accrediting body.
