PURPOSE

This rule establishes policy regarding the compliance of employees and students at Hillsborough Community College (HCC) to the U.S. Copyright Law and related guidelines.

RULE

Hillsborough Community College adheres to the provisions of the United States Copyright Law (Title 17, United States Code, Sect. 101, et. Seq.) and to the fair use guidelines. The College President will develop and establish an administrative procedure to assist employees and students in adhering to those provisions. Furthermore, the College will provide an institutional program for informing and instructing all employees about the laws and its related guidelines. Faculty and student association advisers will advise students and student government associations regarding the use of copyrighted materials outside of the classroom.

The College does not approve of any use or duplication of copyrighted materials not specifically allowed by the copyright law, fair use guidelines, license agreement, or the permission of the copyright owner.
