PURPOSE

This rule establishes policy regarding faculty and staff development at Hillsborough Community College.

RULE

Hillsborough Community College (HCC) is committed to faculty, staff and program development. The College maintains a plan, reviewed and updated annually, to fund faculty, staff and program development projects and to achieve HCC goals, including those related to Equal Access/Equal Opportunity activities. The plan directly subscribes to and supports the purpose of the institution, its mission and its goals.

For the purposes of development, the following definitions apply:

  • Staff development is the improvement of staff performance through activities which maintain, update or upgrade competence specified for present or planned positions. Staff includes all College employees.

  • Program development is the evaluation and improvement of existing programs, including the design of evaluation instruments to establish bases for improvements, as well as the designing of new programs. Program development is accomplished through the Academic Affairs Review Process. The President shall maintain an administrative procedure on faculty, staff and program development.
