The Florida First Responders Scholarship Program (FFRS) has been created to assist in the recruitment of law enforcement officers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and firefighters within the state by providing financial assistance to eligible trainees who enroll in a commission-approved training program. The scholarship shall be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. If eligible to be awarded the scholarship, the amount shall be up to, but not exceeding, the costs necessary to complete the student’s training program, less any state/federal financial aid received by the trainee.
Eligibility Criteria
Be enrolled in an approved training program at a Florida College System institution or school district career center for the purposes of meeting the minimum qualifications under sections 401.2701, 633.408, or 943.13(9), F.S.
- Emergency Medical Technician
- Paramedic
- Firefighting
- Law enforcement
- Student cannot be sponsored by an employer that is covering the costs
-Recipients must be considered a Florida resident for tuition purposes
Award Details
The award to eligible trainees shall be an amount equal to tuition and fees described below which are necessary to complete the qualifying training program, less any state financial aid received by the trainee.
NOTE: Applications will be reviewed, and funds will be posted for approved application once funding levels are approved by the State of Florida. Funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
