PURPOSE

This rule establishes policy regarding curriculum development at Hillsborough Community College (HCC).

RULE

Hillsborough Community College (HCC) will evaluate each educational program on an ongoing basis with respect to its value to student success and the requisite educational requirements.

General education curriculum at HCC shall include the core options identified in State regulations for General Education Core Course options. Remaining general education coursework shall be periodically reviewed by the HCC General Education Committee and recommendations for changes shall follow the established process through academic affairs.

The institution places primary responsibility for the content, quality, and effectiveness of its curriculum with its faculty. Faculty, therefore, are encouraged to participate in course planning, evaluation of courses currently offered, development of future course offerings, and new teaching techniques. Community needs and recommendations from curriculum advisory committees will be considered and welcomed.
