PURPOSE
This rule establishes that the College condemns and will not tolerate any form of sexual misconduct, which includes for this policy, sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, dating violence, intimate partner violence, domestic violence and stalking.
RULE
Hillsborough Community College (HCC) will not tolerate any act of sexual misconduct within the College community and will endeavor to raise awareness of and to prevent sexual misconduct through education, training, and prevention programs. The entire HCC community is encouraged to work together to prevent sexual misconduct and to create a safe, non- discriminatory educational and work environment both individually and collectively.
For the purpose of this rule, sexual misconduct is a broad term that encompasses several forms of prohibited conduct which includes but it not limited to sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and intimate partner violence. Sexual misconduct is a form of discrimination and most forms also constitute crimes under Florida law.
The President has established policies and procedures to address sexual misconduct and sexual harassment in accordance with the requirements and guidelines of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 19090 and The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013. HCC is committed to timely response to all sexual misconduct incidents on a campus, site or College- sponsored event, with a thorough investigation in conjunction with local law enforcement agencies where appropriate.
