Charge/Objective
To recognize veterinary technician training programs that are fully capable of graduating acceptable assistants for veterinarians and to assist in the development of such programs.
To study all matters pertaining to activities of veterinary technicians, and to advise the Board of Directors concerning the implementation of AVMA policy concerning such matters.

Education and credentialing elevates your role as a veterinary technician within a clinic. According to the October 2008 Veterinary Technician Journal, Education + Certification = Higher Pay. A high percentage of veterinary technicians make between $11-16/hr. However, 40% of credential veterinary technicians surveyed by MediMedia Research made $17-22/hr – while only 21% of non-credential veterinary technicians could report an hourly wage within this range. It pays to be certified.
