HCC's Homeland Security Certificate is designed to prepare graduates for work in various Homeland Security fields including counter-terrorism, counter-intelligence, national security, or governmental security.

Additionally, the associated courses would be appropriate for anyone entering the fields of law enforcement, private security, or public administration as well as political science or risk management.

This curriculum is from the current college catalog and is meant to provide prospective students an example of courses taken in this degree/certificate.  It is not intended to be used for graduation requirements. Students should consult an advisor for graduation information.

YEAR I – First Semester

†DSC 1003 Introduction to Homeland Security - 3 cr.

Select 6 credit hours from the following:

†DSC 1002 Introduction to Terrorism - 3 cr.
†DSC 2590 Intelligence Analysis and Security Management - 3 cr.
†DSC 2033 Introduction to Terrorist Tactics and Weapons - 3 cr.
†DSC 2570 Introduction to Cyber-Terrorism - 3 cr.

NOTE: Coursework may be applied to the two-year AS Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies program.
