Dance Auditions

We look forward to you joining the HCC Dance Program.

Auditions are required for students who are interested in placement in the HCC Dance Department courses. Students who are absolute beginners should register for the non-major Dance Basics courses. There is no audition requirement for the following courses: Dance Basics, Improvisation, Dance Composition, Music for Dance or Dance Conditioning.

In-Person Auditions for Fall 2024

May 3 from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
July 19 from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
August 9 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Final audition (for current HCC students only)

August 20 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Digital Auditions

Unable to attend the live audition? No problem. We accept digital submissions on an ongoing basis.

To complete your digital audition, please fill out the HCC audition form and attach your video submission link (see requirements and guidelines below). Please feel free to reach out to Christina Acosta if you have any questions or need further information.

Digital Dance Audition Requirements

One video submission (no more than 8 minutes long) to include the following:

Ballet exercises at the barre (including pliés, dégagé, ronds de jambe, extensions and balances) and center floor work (2–3 minutes).
Modern or contemporary exercises and combos (including changing levels, spiraling and balances) (2–3 minutes).
If you have solo excerpt that you would like to include, you can share that as well, but it is not necessary for placement (1 minute).

Video Guidelines

Video should be recorded in landscape orientation.
Lighting should be focused towards your face. Please avoid back lighting
You should be the only person in the video. Do not send videos of you in class or on stage with others.
Make sure the video is on a tripod or stable during the filming.
Please edit your video so that all of the exercises are on one video link submission.
