Music Placement, Auditions, and Scholarship Application

Do you need to audition?
Yes, every person intending to study music at HCC must audition. The audition process is designed to help faculty determine appropriate class placement. All are welcome regardless of ability

Theory Placement Test
If it is determined that you need to audition, a music theory placement test will be given before the audition to evaluate your basic understanding of the fundamentals of music. Individual sight singing evaluations will be done during the audition time.

Audition Scheduling
The audition will be scheduled by a music department representative after you have completed our audition interest form.

Location
All auditions will take place in the Ybor Performing Arts Building, Room 132 (YPAB 132). All auditions are audio recorded (no video) to share with your future instructor(s). An accompanist will be provided for those auditioning who need one. (Please bring music for vocal literature and piano parts to  your instrumental pieces).

Scholarship Application

Please use the following form to apply for an HCC Music scholarship. Please note that music scholarship winners are students who are offered more performance opportunities for college and community wide events. The criteria for the scholarships are on the form.
