The fire science technology AS degree prepares you for a career as a fire officer, fire instructor, fire investigator, fire safety inspector, hazardous materials technician, building inspector, or fire insurance salesperson.

With many online course options to accommodate busy schedules, this program combines technical study and coursework in mathematics, English, physical science and liberal arts with knowledge necessary to advance into supervisory or management positions.

Courses are offered on a one-year rotation basis, either Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., or on a shift-friendly schedule, or online. Please check the course description page and the current term schedule for more information, as not all courses will meet online requirements.
In an effort to meet the needs of both working firefighters and employing agencies, we may create classes not on our current schedule based on demand. We require a guaranteed minimum of 10 students in order to create a class. See maximum limits on the course description pages. For agencies that wish to host off-campus classes at their facilities, call the Fire Science office at 813.253.7779.

Graduates of the fire science technology program are eligible to transfer to Northwood University to pursue a Bachelor's degree in business administration management/fire science management.
Come visit our campus and discuss your future with a faculty or staff member. We would like to meet you!

This curriculum is from the current college catalog and is meant to provide prospective students an example of courses taken in this degree/certificate.  It is not intended to be used for graduation requirements. Students should consult an advisor for graduation information.
